Discharge of untreated wastewater into the sea can pose health risks. Discharge in coastal areas can lead to visible pollution and a disruption of the sensitive ecosystem.

For these reasons, the discharge of wastewater from ships into the sea is strictly regulated. Resolution MEPC.115 (51) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) stipulates that the MARPOL Annex IV Directive will apply to certain ships from September 27, 2008. This applies to ships that:

Slight misalignment or imbalance creates significant greater than expected load for a bearing. Very often bearing lubrication is found insufficient. All of these factors reduce the service life of bearings.
